About the Library.Link Network

The Library.Link Network (LLN) is a data publishing platform that uses linked data standards and web technology on behalf of libraries to make their content available and accessible on the Web. The Network was created as a collaboration by Zepheira and library industry partners Atlas Systems, EBSCO Novelist, Innovative Interfaces, and SirsiDynix. The following policy describes how we collect and use information we receive from visitors to the Library.Link Network site and sites published via the Network on behalf of the library.

Data Collected & How it is Used

  • 1 Registration
    • 1.1 Libraries can claim their domain on the Network, which allows them to then manage their associated information. When a library staff member claims their domain, they must register and create a member account. An online registration form may require them to provide information including but not limited to name, email address, a User Name, a password, and a library affiliation. This information is used to identify the primary contact for the library’s domain and is not shared outside of the Library.Link Network and its partners. If necessary, this information will be used to contact the individual/site. It will not be shared with any third party unaffiliated with the operations of the Library.Link Network and associated products/services.
  • 2 Catalog and Special Collections Records Publishing
    • 2.1 Libraries who are members of the Network provide their catalog and special collections resources which are imported, converted, linked, and published to the Web for the explicit purpose of visibility of the library’s information and resources. This information is either received from a Library.Link Network partner or directly from the library and such data remains the sole property of the library or Library.Link Network partner who provides it.
  • 3 Log File Information
    • 3.1 Log file information is automatically reported by your browser or mobile application each time you access the Library.Link Network. For example, when you access the Library.Link Network, our servers automatically record certain information that your web browser sends whenever you visit any website. These server logs may include information such as your web request, Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, browser type, referring and URLs, number of clicks, domain names, landing pages, pages viewed and other such information. We do not link this automatically-collected data to personally identifiable information.

If the Zepheira or its LLN Partners identify a new purpose outside of the stated purposes listed above and it will provide notification via revision to this document or, if the purpose involves the use of sensitive information, it will seek registered individual consent to use and disclose personal information for that purpose.

Individual’s information will not be used for reasons beyond the scope of the stated purposes and neither Zepheira nor the Library.Link Network Partners will disclose personally identifiable information willfully to a third party outside of the stated purposes unless:

  • A Affected individual has violated the Terms of Use or other applicable Agreement, or
  • B We are required to do so by law, or
  • C We provide notification to affected individual

We have put in place reasonable measures to protect the personal information contained in our databases. Measures are in place to prevent unauthorized access and maintain appropriate use and accuracy.

An individual’s password is a component of our security system. As such, it is the individual’s responsibility to protect it. Individuals should not share your password with any third parties. If a password has been compromised for any reason, the individual should change it immediately.
